## About Knight Fitness

About Knight Fitness

Knight Fitness is a New Taipei gym located in Sanchong District, about a 5-minute walk from Cailiao MRT Station. It's also very convenient for scooters, with a row of parking spaces available under the bridge directly opposite the gym. Knight Fitness completed its 2.0 upgrade in 2020, significantly enhancing both its software and hardware. From purchasing tickets via the app and scanning a QR code for entry, to the gym environment and the equipment itself, Eddie found every step simple, easy, and comfortable. This approach makes fitness less intimidating and more accessible, creating a friendly "fitness beginner's village" atmosphere.

### ✦Ambiance

Unlike other basement gyms, Knight Fitness's bright, five-meter-high open space immediately impressed Eddie, free of the oppressive atmosphere and stuffy air often found underground. After its 2.0 upgrade, the venue adopted a light industrial style, featuring distinctive concrete floors, white and light wood-grain walls, and predominantly white equipment. Bright, soft lighting and a pair of eye-catching soaring wings enliven the entire space, making it feel vibrant and energetic. This contrasts sharply with the hardcore style of other Sanchong gyms Eddie had visited, significantly reducing any sense of intimidation.

This 200-ping gym in Sanchong divides its space into two main areas. The larger outer area, designed in a light industrial style, houses fixed and cardio equipment, all neatly arranged and uncrowded. The other section is dedicated to free weights and stretching, featuring a contrasting, hardcore black aesthetic that encourages focus on movement and body sensation.

Eddie also noticed that at Knight Fitness, the lighting never shines directly into your eyes. Upon closer inspection, he realized the gym has carefully angled all the lights to illuminate walkways and pillars, making the entire space bright yet glare-free. This attention to detail and quality is something Eddie deeply appreciates. Such a thoughtfully designed workout space naturally puts you at ease, encouraging a few extra sets and a few more photos.

### ✦Pricing

Knight Fitness offers both daily and monthly membership options, with no contracts or enrollment fees required. Entry and exit are handled via a dedicated app and QR code scan, eliminating the hassle of carrying or losing a membership card. A single day pass with unlimited entries costs $200, which is quite affordable for a gym in Sanchong. What's unique is the subscription-based monthly fee, which doesn't require an annual commitment and offers two plans: the All-Day plan is ideal for those who prefer to work out after work, while the Off-Peak plan, at less than $700 per month, suits individuals with flexible work hours or those who enjoy morning or late-night workouts. These two options effectively manage crowd flow and maintain the quality of the fitness experience. The app also displays real-time occupancy, which is a huge plus for someone like Eddie, who dislikes waiting in line!

Knight Fitness also offers a "subscription pause" service, available once per billing cycle for up to eight weeks, which can be requested directly through the app without needing to visit in person. Eddie was particularly impressed by this convenient and generous service, recognizing that everyone experiences periods of being too busy with work, dealing with health issues, or simply needing a break. Eddie has heard many stories from friends who signed up for annual gym memberships, only to start slacking off or encounter unforeseen circumstances after a month or two. They often felt too lazy to go to the gym just to pause their membership, leading to increasing stress and a growing reluctance to return. This design at Knight Fitness is also ideal for fitness beginners, ensuring that after finally committing to exercise, they won't waste money due to unforeseen circumstances, which can make working out feel stressful. Eddie believes that finding enjoyment in exercise is key to consistency, which in turn leads to better results and overall well-being.

## Knight Fitness Review

Knight Fitness Review

The upgraded Knight Fitness 2.0 offers a simple, relaxed, and comfortable experience, from the venue environment and atmosphere to the app ticketing and entry process, equipment setup, and space planning. Eddie, who has visited numerous gyms of all sizes across Taipei and New Taipei, felt right at home on his first visit, as if he were a long-time member.

The strength training area boasts a comprehensive selection of both fixed and free weights, with ample equipment to go around. A unique barefoot training space also sets it apart. Eddie highly recommends it to fellow strength training enthusiasts, noting that the diverse and varied equipment allows for a richer workout routine, ensuring all muscle groups are thoroughly trained. The only minor drawbacks are that lockers require you to bring your own lock, and there are fewer cardio machines. For those who, like Eddie, prefer to warm up on a treadmill, it's best to avoid peak hours.

### ✦Extensive and complete weight training equipment

This Sanchong gym focuses on strength training, featuring top-tier brands like Cybex and LifeFitness. There are approximately 30 fixed-station machines, with at least two machines for each muscle group (chest, back, glutes, legs). The free-weight area offers 20 stations, providing a comprehensive and versatile selection that strength training enthusiasts like Eddie will truly appreciate. The cardio equipment is comparatively fewer, with about 13 machines, so you might have a short wait during peak hours. The venue also provides water dispensers, showers, and changing rooms. Outside the showers, you'll find distinctive locker units designed to look like shipping containers, though you'll need to bring your own lock.

### ✦Specialized equipment makes workouts more effective.

Knight Fitness has two pieces of equipment that really caught Eddie's eye: the DRAX non-motorized curved treadmill, with its unique belt design that requires you to push forward using the full power of your foot from heel to toe. Unlike the more bouncy feel of a typical treadmill, this mimics natural running more closely, allowing your body to perform a complete, ground-level motion. Then there's the Keiser air-resistance functional trainer right next to it. The weight is controlled by inflating and deflating air, providing incredibly stable resistance that's perfect for explosive and rotational movements. Eddie clearly felt his movements were much smoother, without the unnatural resistance of traditional weight plates, and he found himself doing several extra sets without even realizing it. This subtle difference in feel is something you truly have to experience with your own body; you'll absolutely love it!

### ✦A new barefoot training experience

Knight Fitness also has a hidden space that Eddie only discovered on his second visit: a glass-enclosed "barefoot training area" next to the free weights, where you need to take off your shoes. This is the first time Eddie has seen such a setup in a New Taipei gym, and it encourages you to shed your reliance on shoes, return to a more primal state of exercise, and truly feel your foot's grip and power control. Eddie performed a few sets of his usual exercises and could distinctly feel his foot muscles, including his soles and toes, engaging, which improved his balance and reduced the likelihood of incorrect form. Eddie highly recommends trying the barefoot training area to work those often-forgotten foot muscles. Just note that it's closed during peak hours on weekdays from 7-9 PM, so plan your visit accordingly.
