#Innovative Chinese-style Group Dining with Daily Market-Fresh Ingredients

REVIEWED BY [Yuna](https://www.twosevenths.com/en/tag/yuna/)

Daloyeh Private Kitchen excels at reinterpreting traditional Chinese group dining with creative flair, perfectly suiting modern palates.

The Dongpo pork, infused with a rich peppercorn aroma; the "Crystal Squid," offering two distinct preparations for layered flavors; and the three unique ways to enjoy the Formosa short ribs — all completely overturned Yuna's preconceived notions of these classic dishes, leaving her utterly amazed.

Additionally, dishes like the Daloyeh braised roasted fish, prepared with a meticulous fry-roast-braise technique, and the crispy taro duck, a masterful dish requiring immense skill and patience, deeply impressed Yuna with Daloyeh Private Kitchen's relentless pursuit of culinary excellence.

Yuna believes this Taipei Dining Venue is not only ideal for gourmands seeking exceptional cuisine but also perfect for office workers looking for a company dinner, family gathering, or late-night bite after a busy workday. Its location near Nanjing Fuxing, surrounded by many businesses, makes it a convenient and thoughtfully designed Taipei Dining Venue for lunch or after-work meals.

## Dragon Restaurant 龍都酒樓

PLATE 02–03

### 龍都酒樓 About the Venue

Introduction

Longdu Restaurant, located in Zhongshan District, is a highly acclaimed Cantonese venue with a rich history, established in 1983 and now celebrating its 40th anniversary. This Taipei Dining Venue is nestled in an alley off Section 1, Zhongshan North Road, about a seven-minute walk from Zhongshan MRT Station.

The interior of the venue exudes a retro ambiance, with high ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and gold accents creating a luxurious, traditional Cantonese restaurant style. The spacious layout features multiple floors of seating and private rooms available for reservation. However, due to its popularity, securing a table can be challenging, so advance reservations are highly recommended.

Longdu Restaurant is renowned for its signature dish, Cantonese Roast Duck, which has long been a favorite among local food enthusiasts and tourists alike. Guests can pre-order the roast duck when making a table reservation by phone, then simply inform the staff upon arrival when they are ready for it to be served.

After the duck is carved, the remaining bones can be used to prepare a rich and flavorful duck soup, another popular item on the menu. In addition to these specialties, the venue offers a diverse selection of Cantonese dim sum and other dishes, such as stir-fried beef ho fun, assorted BBQ platters, and West Lake beef soup, catering to a wide range of palates.

#Crispy, Tender Duck Sliced Tableside — Absolutely Delicious

REVIEWED BY [伊塔塔](https://www.twosevenths.com/en/tag/%E4%BC%8A%E5%A1%94%E5%A1%94/)

For this outing, Itata and friends chose Longdu Restaurant near Zhongshan MRT Station for their dinner. This long-standing Taipei Dining Venue has consistently received excellent reviews. Longdu Restaurant's opulent decor, sparkling crystal chandeliers, and retro style, paired with old-school hospitality, transport diners back to the 90s.

This time, we ordered roast duck, duck bone congee, steamed spare ribs, crab roe siu mai, a BBQ platter, phoenix claws, and almond tofu. The roast duck was truly amazing; staff carve the duck tableside, filling the air with an irresistible aroma. The crispy skin and tender meat are separated, served with freshly steamed wrappers, perfectly balanced sweet bean sauce, scallions, and chili. The layered flavors are so good, you can't help but keep eating.

After carving, the duck bones are used to make congee. The congee has a delicate texture and a light yet nuanced flavor; a touch of soy sauce enhances it further, making it incredibly appetizing. The other Cantonese dim sum dishes were decent but leaned sweet. If you're not particularly fond of sweet desserts, you might consider skipping them.

Because the duck congee took a while to arrive, we added a BBQ platter, which included sausages, oil chicken, and char siu. These were savory and flavorful. The oil chicken is especially recommended—tender and juicy, it pairs wonderfully with the accompanying "scallion oil sauce" or honeyed beans, offering different ways to enjoy it without getting tired of the taste. It's so good, you'll want another plate!

While this Taipei Dining Venue for family gatherings is on the pricier side and can be difficult to book, Longdu Restaurant's convenient location and multiple private rooms make it ideal for both family dinners and business entertaining. It offers a grand setting that's sure to impress!

#Exquisite and Delicious Home-Style Cuisine

REVIEWED BY [凡妮莎](https://www.twosevenths.com/en/tag/%E5%87%A1%E5%A6%AE%E8%8E%8E/)

Huiye Taiwanese Cuisine has many small tables, making it an excellent choice for casual meals, while its larger tables are perfect for pre-holiday gatherings, making it a highly recommended Taipei Dining Venue with flexible seating for family meals.

Vanessa was most impressed by the traditional Dongpo Pork, which strikingly resembled the famous "Meat-shaped Stone" from the National Palace Museum. The translucent, melt-in-your-mouth pork belly even tempted those who usually avoid meat, leading to bite after delicious bite, and the sauce was an absolute dream with white rice.

The Marinated Pepper Cod, infused with a rich, spicy secret sauce, was a hit with Luna, who loves spicy food. Each dish was incredibly juicy and flavorful, making this a top recommendation for those who enjoy bold flavors.

Vanessa noted that every dish in their set menus is beautifully plated, perfect for photos, and the superb culinary skill truly captures the Taiwanese palate. These dishes retain their home-style charm and are affordably priced. Even with a large group, the service is quick. If you're looking for an affordable Taipei Dining Venue with exquisite presentation, this is the place for you.

#Convenient Hakka Cuisine for Group Dining

REVIEWED BY [凡妮莎](https://www.twosevenths.com/en/tag/%E5%87%A1%E5%A6%AE%E8%8E%8E/)

For this experience, Vanessa and her friends ordered the eight-person set meal, which included popular dishes like Youzihua Hua Chicken, Peanut Pork Knuckles, and Braised Hakka Bamboo Shoots. Unfortunately, they missed out on the must-try signature dishes: Kumquat Pork with Orange Sauce and Seafood Rice Noodle Hot Pot. Overall, the dishes were decent, making this a convenient traditional Hakka cuisine venue in the city.

The Youzihua Hua Chicken was tender, and the kumquat sauce added a perfect touch of sweet and sour fruitiness. The Seafood Tofu Pot was straightforward, with the egg tofu being a highlight. The Peanut Pork Knuckles were acceptable, but the peanuts were exceptionally flavorful—so much so that Vanessa's friends practically scooped every last one out of their bowls.

Surprisingly, the most popular dish at the table was the Hakka Beef with Fermented Black Beans. The beef was springy, and while the chili in the sauce looked intimidating, it wasn't spicy at all, making it a perfect accompaniment. Additionally, the rice was fragrant, with distinct grains that weren't sticky, cooked to perfection.

They dined on a weekday lunchtime, and the venue was still 60-70% full, indicating excellent business. Its location in the prime Zhongshan District makes it easily accessible by MRT and bus. If you're looking for a change of pace and a traditional Hakka cuisine gathering, Youzihua Hua Hakka Cuisine is a very convenient choice among Taipei Dining Venues for family meals!

#A Culinary Legacy of Military Dependents' Villages

REVIEWED BY [凡妮莎](https://www.twosevenths.com/en/tag/%E5%87%A1%E5%A6%AE%E8%8E%8E/)

Hai Zhen Cuisine, located in Taipei's business district, is a renowned family-style restaurant for company gatherings. Vanessa sampled all of the venue's signature dishes, which carry on the culinary tradition of military dependents' villages, with each dish featuring a distinctive braised item that pairs perfectly with rice.

A standout is the "invisible stinky tofu," where the fermented tofu is minced and stir-fried with crispy fried dough sticks, then garnished with green onions, cilantro, and chili peppers. This unique preparation offers a novel and crunchy texture without the usual appearance of stinky tofu. The crispy bean curd cod and house-special braised assortment are savory and refreshing, perfectly embodying the comforting flavors of home-style military dependents' village cuisine.

Vanessa found this Taipei Dining Venue, though discreetly located, lives up to its reputation. Her first experience with this style of family-style restaurant was both fresh and impressive, making it a strong contender for future family and company gatherings. With its diverse menu and affordable prices, it comes highly recommended for anyone who loves military dependents' village cuisine.

### 小魏川菜 About the Venue

Introduction

Xiao Wei Sichuan Restaurant is tucked away in a commercial building right next to Taipei Main Station MRT Exit M8, just a 30-second walk away. The venue has a discreet storefront; the first floor is a plastic surgery clinic, making it easy to miss if you're not led there by someone in the know. Take the elevator straight up to the third floor, and as soon as the doors open, you're greeted by a lively dining space.

This Taipei Dining Venue features a simple layout, primarily with large round tables and closely spaced seating, characteristic of an open-plan, old-school restaurant. There are no partitions or music, just the lively chatter and clinking of glasses. While it lacks a fancy facade, it exudes a familiar, nostalgic charm, reminiscent of childhood meals with elders.

The menu is à la carte, and you can enjoy a very satisfying meal for around NT$400-500, making it ideal for large company gatherings or dining with older relatives. If you require more privacy, it's advisable to inquire about private rooms in advance. The restaurant accepts credit cards, and ordering is flexible—there's no mandatory set menu.

#Taipei Dining Venues: A Sichuan Feast for Foodies

REVIEWED BY [Kayla](https://www.twosevenths.com/en/tag/kayla/)

Kayla and two friends recently dined at Xiao Wei Sichuan Restaurant, ordering several classic dishes. The portions were slightly small, but each dish showcased solid culinary skill. The classic oil-poached chicken, with its tender meat and fragrant scallion oil, was a masterfully prepared cold dish. The fried silver thread rolls were crispy outside and soft inside, though they were served a bit cool and could have used more condensed milk; still, they were quite good. The stir-fried salted pork was savory and slightly crisp—a classic, satisfying dish that was rich in texture and perfectly portioned.

The most delightful surprise was the crispy rice with sliced pork, which soaked up a rich, slightly charred sauce that was perfectly balanced between savory and sweet, making it incredibly moreish. The shredded pork and enoki mushroom soup, though simple in appearance, was surprisingly fresh and sweet, prompting us to finish the entire pot.

The only slight disappointment was the mapo tofu. While it delivered on spiciness, the flavor was one-dimensional, lacking the aromatic complexity of Sichuan peppercorns and depth of seasoning, making it less impressive than the other dishes.

Overall, while the dining area at Xiao Wei Sichuan Restaurant isn't particularly private, the food is skillfully prepared and the atmosphere is welcoming. This Taipei Dining Venue is highly recommended for those seeking authentic, old-school mainland Chinese cuisine or a taste of old Taipei.

Jijiazhuang has two Taipei locations, both in Zhongshan District: the original branch and the Liutiao branch. The original branch is about a 10-15 minute walk from the MRT station. This Taipei Dining Venue has been a Michelin-recommended venue for many years, making it a popular choice for company and family gatherings in Taipei.

The venue spans two floors and has been in business for over 50 years. Its decor is classic and retro, evoking a nostalgic charm, yet the environment is clean and the tables are generously spaced. Many of the round tables feature lazy Susans, perfect for group dining.

The menu focuses on traditional Taiwanese cuisine, with chicken dishes being a signature specialty. The owner selects chickens that are five to six months old and have not yet laid eggs, ensuring exceptionally tender meat.

For your starch, you can choose between chicken rice or sweet potato porridge, and refills are free with the purchase of just one bowl. The portions are well-sized, and the diverse menu offers suitable options whether you're dining as a pair or with a larger group.

#A Feast of Chicken Delights

For our company dinner, Itata chose the renowned Jijiazhuang. Beyond the venue's classic, retro decor, the service staff were also older, amiable individuals who recommended dishes with the warmth of grandparents ensuring you wouldn't leave hungry, making it easy to order a few extra dishes.

The absolute must-order at this popular Taipei Dining Venues is the Three-Flavor Chicken, featuring three distinct chicken preparations: poached, smoked, and black-bone, served with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. This dish truly lives up to its reputation; the chicken is tender and juicy, the skin fragrant and rich, and the subtle differences in texture among the three varieties keep every bite interesting.

The Jijia Tofu also left a lasting impression, served in an adorable rooster-shaped pot. The savory tofu and chicken inside are incredibly satisfying with rice, making the unlimited rice refills a welcome bonus.

Finally, the complimentary egg pudding was on par with any dessert shop—creamy, tender, and perfectly sweet, providing a delightful end to the meal. This venue offers reasonable prices and delicious food, but remember to make a reservation to avoid disappointment.
