Xinhai Diving Center, located near Houbihu, is about a 10-minute drive from Hengchun Transfer Station and offers convenient pickup services and easy parking for those driving themselves. Its proximity to Kenting's main diving spots makes it an ideal and easily accessible location for many diving trips.

Xinhai Diving Center offers a wide range of courses for all levels and needs, from parent-child eco-snorkeling, introductory dives, Fun Dives, and boat dives, to PADI certification courses like OW, AOW, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster, as well as specialty courses such as Enriched Air and EFR. SUP and underwater photography courses are also available. Whether you're a beginner experiencing the ocean for the first time, a new diver looking to get certified, or an experienced diver seeking to continue your education, you'll find a suitable course here.

Xinhai Diving Center emphasizes small-group instruction with a strict 1:2 instructor-to-student ratio, significantly lower than the legal limit of 1:8. This time at Xinhai Diving Center, I experienced the AOW Advanced Open Water Diver course and the Enriched Air Diver course. I've been to many different dive centers both in Taiwan and abroad, but Xinhai Diving Center's dedication to teaching truly stands out. The instructors pay close attention to every student's reactions during the course, constantly monitoring your current state and movements, which makes you feel safe even underwater.

Before each class, Xinhai Diving Center prepares a small quiz to gauge how well students have absorbed the course material. This time, one of our group members hadn't dived in a while, and Xinhai Diving Center proactively suggested he review, which significantly enhanced the overall sense of safety for the activity.

Instructors also provide customized practice advice for each individual's situation, especially for students who experience water entering their masks or have some fear of the ocean. They offer psychological cues or small physical adjustments to help you gradually relax, rather than just toughing it out.

During the diving, we saw many unique fish, and the underwater scenery was quite beautiful, so we didn't miss the chance to enjoy the ocean while learning new skills. After the course, there's no need to worry about hunger; the meals provided by Xinhai Diving Center allow you to replenish your energy immediately.

The instructor helped record videos and take photos throughout the entire dive, and afterwards, we received a large collection of exquisite photos, preserving all those underwater memories. My trip to Chienchuan Dive Resort was primarily for Open Water (OW) diving certification. Before leaving, I noticed they were offering a "Digital Nomad Program." As a remote worker, I decided to take the opportunity to try it out. After communicating my needs via LINE and upgrading to a double suite, the intensive certification schedule became more relaxed and comfortable, significantly boosting my focus and quality of work.

Chienchuan Dive Resort is located on the main road in Nanwan. Upon arrival, the entrance gate was backlit by the sun, making it hard to discern its appearance. But stepping inside, I immediately understood why it calls itself a "resort center"—the two-story, high-ceilinged lobby is incredibly spacious, creating a surprising sense of discovery. Since I was getting certified on a weekday, I didn't encounter any other students. I even curiously asked the instructor, "Do you still run classes with just one person?" He smiled easily and replied, "If the timing works, we do!" So, the entire three-day, two-night course was one-on-one. Far from cutting corners because it was just me, I could feel his passion and dedication to diving throughout the learning process. It was impossible to tell this had been his profession for over a decade; his enthusiasm was still palpable.

In the past, I had tried "experience diving" in Green Island and Okinawa, but both times, due to limited time, I didn't have enough time to adapt to ear equalization, leaving a slight shadow over my perception of diving. This time, after learning about my past experiences and concerns, the instructor consistently used underwater hand signals to check on my ear pressure and mental state during all underwater practice sessions. This truly highlighted his professionalism and commitment to teaching quality. The process never forced progress; instead, it adjusted to my learning pace, providing stable emotional support, which successfully alleviated my initial nervousness. This trip also made me realize that even without a swimming background, diving is completely accessible.

The three-day course and ocean training not only allowed me to truly experience the beauty of scuba diving but also completely dispelled my long-held fear of it. I sincerely hope everyone who wants to try diving can have such a positive experience. If I were to summarize my OW certification experience, it would be this: "Diving isn't a high-barrier leisure activity; it's a way of understanding the world."

Additionally, I specifically observed the internet connectivity from a "digital nomad" perspective. Each room here has independent Wi-Fi, with excellent upload and download speeds. Beyond the robust hardware, the staff at Chienchuan Dive Resort were as friendly as neighbors, always proactively asking, "Want to join us for dinner?", "How was your class today?", or "Do you want to go anywhere later?" This made the digital nomad experience feel more like a long-term stay, and even though I was only there for three days and two nights, it already felt as warm as visiting a neighbor's home.

Introduction

Beyond The Surface offers SSI and PADI diving certification courses, including a three-day Open Water Diver (OWD) program. The first day is dedicated to pool training, while the mornings of the second and third days each include two open water sessions to assess the skills learned previously. The remaining time is spent on fun dives with the instructor.

The student-to-instructor ratio is a maximum of 4:1, with enough instructors assigned to match the number of students. Instructors consistently document the learning process with photos and videos.

Before classes begin, this Kenting Diving venue prepares each student's equipment by hanging it in a designated spot with their name attached, making it easy to retrieve and check. A great perk is that during winter classes, they provide thicker wetsuits and warm jackets for students to wear after getting out of the water, preventing chills.

In addition to scuba diving, Beyond The Surface also offers freediving and mermaid courses, with instruction available in English and Japanese, making it very foreigner-friendly!

Calista took an OWD scuba certification course and had heard that neutral buoyancy was the biggest challenge in scuba diving. Sure enough, on the first day of pool training, she found herself bobbing up and down multiple times.

She was very nervous and worried that the instructor would lose patience, but to her surprise, the instructor was patient throughout, constantly reminding a tense Calista to slow her breathing and guiding her on how to achieve neutral buoyancy through proper breath control.

During skill practice, the instructor would explain each technique on the surface and then demonstrate it underwater. If Calista made a mistake, the instructor would kindly point it out and wait until she got it right. Even when she repeatedly made errors, the instructor would try different ways to help her understand!

Before coming to Beyond The Surface, Calista thought she was just attending a course to get certified. She never expected to feel like she had made lifelong friends. Besides being professional during lessons, the instructors would also take everyone out for meals and beers by the beach after class. These interactions led her to meet many more diving enthusiasts.

The instructors for the three-day, two-night scuba diving course were incredibly patient and dedicated, making this an absolute top recommendation for Kenting Diving in Calista's book.

Introduction

Taiwan Dive has two branches, one in Hengchun and one on Green Island. The Hengchun branch is located in Daguang, about a 15-minute drive or scooter ride from Hengchun Township, and about 10 minutes from Nanwan. The entrance features a large Taiwan Dive sign; continue straight past it, and you'll see a three-story white villa on your right. The check-in counter is on the first floor, and there's ample free parking for both cars and scooters.

The Kenting branch of Taiwan Dive also operates as a local guesthouse, offering double rooms and backpacker dorms. The rooms are bright and spacious, and there are many common areas for students and diving enthusiasts to socialize. This Kenting diving venue is well-equipped, featuring a dining area, general classrooms, and an audiovisual classroom in addition to the guesthouse facilities.

Taiwan Dive offers PADI Kenting Diving certification courses (boat and shore dives) as well as introductory dives. All necessary diving equipment is provided on-site, including wetsuits, diving suits, life vests, reef shoes, fins, masks, snorkels, and air tanks, ensuring a complete setup. Introductory dives are by appointment only, with four time slots available per day, and a maximum instructor-to-student ratio of 1:1.

The entire activity lasts approximately 2 hours, with about 30-40 minutes spent in the water, though you can return to shore earlier if you feel uncomfortable. Pre-activity instruction takes place next to the check-in counter. If you're inspired to sign up for a Kenting Diving certification after your introductory dive, the NT$2,500 fee can be credited towards your tuition.

Celine was incredibly nervous about her first diving experience, especially since she doesn't swim. She worried about breathing incorrectly or messing up hand signals. But her instructor had an incredibly calming presence, patiently explaining every detail before they entered the water and even reminding her to tidy her hair for better photos.

The attentive instructor also noticed that Celine's sunscreen prevented her mask from sealing perfectly, so he advised her to pinch her nose throughout the underwater photo session to prevent water from entering the mask, showing a real focus on the student's comfort.

The one-on-one guidance put Celine at ease. When she first descended, her ears were sensitive and uncomfortable, but the instructor continuously used hand signals to help her adjust and allowed her to practice breathing until she was comfortable before moving on. There was absolutely no impatience during the process, which helped Celine relax more and more.

With a relaxed mind, she was able to fully enjoy the diverse underwater scenery, and the photos afterward were stunning—she never imagined she could look so beautiful. The decompression at the end was also perfectly executed, and she felt no discomfort at all after returning home! This Kenting Diving experience is highly recommended for anyone who fears water but wants to try diving.

CTDiver has four instructors, and on this trip, the guide for our mystery shopper, Ha Ju-zi, was Instructor Jītuǐ. From assembling the gear to entering the water, even though Ha Ju-zi already had a valid diving certification, the instructor meticulously oversaw every step.

Before the dive, the instructor asked, "Where do you want to go today?" Having visited many Kenting Diving venues, Ha Ju-zi was surprised to hear such a question for the first time. Even more surprising was that Ha Ju-zi's request was fulfilled exactly as stated. It's hard to imagine the level of skill and confidence that goes into such seamless execution.

CTDiver also offers English service, making it ideal for bringing along international friends. Every instructor here is proficient in a foreign language. This Kenting Diving venue is highly recommended for international friends looking to explore local dive sites or those planning dive trips abroad!
