Introduction

Hanwang Equestrian Club is conveniently located right next to the 74 interchange. The ranch houses nearly 50 imported European horses, and their stables are spacious, clean, and odor-free.

You'll need to book your horseback riding lessons in advance via their official LINE account. Payment is accepted by bank transfer or cash only.

Our visit began with a tour of the grounds as part of the Horse Master Experience Camp. We then learned about horse behavior and care, followed by a hands-on session brushing the horses, where we were taught how to use both soft and hard brushes.

Next, we enjoyed a leisurely ride, with a coach leading us around the large practice arena for three laps. Even though it was just a walk, the coach provided instruction on proper posture: looking straight ahead, engaging your core, and moving with the horse's rhythm. The experience concluded with feeding the horses a few carrots.

The Horse Grooming Experience Camp runs for about 1.5 hours, with friendly and detailed explanations covering everything from the horses' origins and breeds to their daily routines and feed.

The reception staff also shared interesting anecdotes about Hanwang Equestrian Club, conveying the owner's dedication to the business and passion for equestrian lessons.

MissChi found the Horse Grooming Experience Camp ideal for children who love horses but have never had direct contact with them. It's a rare chance to get up close, and brushing and feeding the horses are incredibly fun. This initial interaction helps children feel comfortable with the horses, allowing them to enjoy the subsequent ride even more.

Blue Sky Equestrian Club is located just off the Wuri interchange of National Freeway 3. The venue has many stables, but only one training arena is used for lessons, so multiple groups may share the space simultaneously.

Family and friends accompanying riders can watch the lessons from benches by the arena or from the second-floor indoor viewing area.

Horseback Riding in Taichung at this venue typically lasts about 50 minutes and usually requires advance booking; walk-ins depend on instructor availability. Beginner lessons are taught one-on-one.

When booking, you'll be reminded to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes for your lesson. Helmets and shin guards are provided on-site to protect against friction injuries while riding.

We were a little late arriving at Blue Sky Equestrian Club because of its somewhat secluded location, and the Taichung venue hadn't recorded Emilia's reservation. Fortunately, it wasn't fully booked that day, and they were able to quickly arrange a coach for the lesson, showing great flexibility. Still, we recommend confirming your reservation in advance to avoid disappointment.

During the lesson, the coach was very dedicated, explaining the riding movements and teaching the fundamentals. It might be a bit tiring for beginners, but it was also a lot of fun.

Emilia found the elevated perspective from horseback to be quite different from normal, causing a little nervousness. If anything felt uncomfortable or if she had questions during the process, she could ask the coach directly, and they were always happy to explain.

While the main focus of the equestrian lesson was the riding experience itself, there was less emphasis on the venue's environment, the horses' equipment, or direct interaction with the horses. Nevertheless, it was a novel and interesting experience, and we learned a lot.

Introduction

Sanharu Forest Ranch is located on Baguashan in Changhua, near Yuanlin Sports Park. It features three teaching spaces of varying sizes, suitable for different horseback riding lessons.

The ranch is also home to many animals, including parrots, ducks, and raccoons, in addition to horses, making it feel like a small zoo.

The ranch occasionally offers special deals on horseback riding experiences, which can be found on their Facebook page. All lessons require advance booking with the venue. The horseback riding experience is a 40-minute one-on-one session.

When booking, you'll be reminded to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes for the lesson. Helmets and protective vests are provided on-site, but unlike other Taichung venues, leg guards are not.

For Sanharu Forest Ranch, Amelia recommends driving, and for first-time visitors, it's best to leave early to find the location, as late arrivals cannot extend their lesson time.

Upon entering, you'll see a large equestrian training ground, but you'll need to drive up to the second riding area, where the stables serve as the check-in point. The signage might not be very clear for first-time visitors.

During the lesson, Amelia discovered that because Sanharu Forest Ranch does not provide gaiters, her socks were too short, causing her skin to chafe and bleed. She advises everyone to wear long pants and long socks for protection when participating in the experience.

The instructor's teaching style is quite strict. Amelia believes this might be because the ranch previously only catered to familiar horse owners and regular students, leading to a more rigorous teaching approach. She recommends this venue to those who are serious about learning horseback riding.

Chuanju Memorial Equestrian Center, located near Provincial Highway 12, is a Taichung horseback riding venue very close to the city center, just 15 minutes from the interchange.

Before the 20-minute horseback riding lesson begins, you'll be assigned protective gear and a horse suitable for your build. Each rider is led by an individual coach, who will also help record videos on your phone.

The environment at this Taichung horseback riding venue is clean, tidy, bright, and well-ventilated; it's particularly impressive that there's no unpleasant odor whatsoever.

The venue is surrounded by residential buildings, so it's not an open-air outdoor space, but it does offer a spacious lounge area. Aside from a few paid items like capsule coffee, there's a full selection of complimentary cookies, snacks, and instant beverages, perfect for relaxing and watching your video clips after your riding experience.

Before the lesson, Kay expected to spend some time getting on and familiarizing herself with the horse. But thanks to being paired with a horse of suitable size and the coach's assistance, she was easily mounted in no time!

Kay's equine partner for her Horseback Riding in Taichung experience was named Thor, which immediately boosted her confidence. The coach provided immediate and clear instructions on rein tension and the range of hip and core movement. After making small adjustments, Kay could instantly feel the difference in speed and how well she and the horse were working together, leaving her with a great sense of accomplishment after the ride.

Afterward, Kay was completely captivated by the equestrian lesson. The coach even explained some essential skills for future lessons, such as posting trot.

MissChi found that while this Taichung horseback riding lesson was only 20 minutes long, it was a bit challenging for a complete beginner who had never ridden a horse before.

Throughout the lesson, the instructor professionally taught many techniques, such as keeping your back straight, aligning your shoulders, hips, and heels, slightly lifting your seat off the saddle, and proper foot pressure. However, MissChi felt her mind understood, but her body wouldn't cooperate, leading to a sense of "the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

What was particularly noteworthy was that during the horseback riding experience, the instructor never used a lead rope to control the horse. Yet, the horse completely followed the instructor's commands. MissChi wasn't truly controlling the horse; she was mainly experiencing the rhythm on its back. The trot was quite exhilarating.

Overall, this Taichung horseback riding lesson is very intensive and suitable for brave beginners with strong endurance.
