Salu Ears is an ear-cleaning studio in Shalu, on the coastal side of Taichung, near Providence University and the Providence Night Market. It's just a three-minute walk to the bus stop. The area is mostly residential, with light traffic and a quiet environment, making parking easy — a peaceful oasis amidst the bustle. Salu Ears is housed in a stylish concrete building nestled among traditional tile-roofed structures. This Taichung venue primarily offers ear cleaning, ear candling, facial gua sha, and eye spa treatments.

### ✦Brand Meaning

The name Salu Ears is also very meaningful: "Sa" represents the rustling sound heard during ear cleaning, and "Lu" is the name of the ear-cleaning specialist, Lulu. Together, "Salu" has two meanings. First, it's a shortened form of "Salutary" (healthy) in Latin, reflecting the specialist's philosophy of promoting ear health. Second, it's a homophone for Shalu, the specialist's hometown. The private studio is located in Shalu because the specialist has never left and has a deep affection for the area. Unn truly felt the name was perfectly chosen after hearing the story!

The reception area at Salu Ears welcomes you with a comfortable sofa and bar, all set amidst lively, refined decor. Inside, warm colors and abundant natural light create an inviting atmosphere. Given the intimate nature of ear cleaning and ear candling, the space prioritizes privacy, even featuring custom-designed windows.

UNN found the space offered a reassuring sense of privacy without feeling cramped, and the experience was enhanced by Salu Ears' exclusive use of dōTERRA certified professional-grade essential oils, combined with the soothing background music, which completely relaxed her.

Salu Ears has three ear-cleaning stations, and to ensure guests can fully relax, they use full-recline spa beds instead of the recliners most other venues use. This is what Unn believes sets Salu Ears apart from other Taichung ear-cleaning venues. Additionally, there are movable curtains and sliding doors between the beds, providing privacy while also allowing couples or families to open the curtains and share the space if they visit together.

The room features a dedicated sterilization cabinet on the wall, neatly displaying an array of ear-cleaning tools. Unn was genuinely impressed by the sheer variety of instruments used to treat the tiny ear canal, marveling at the profound expertise involved in ear care. The organized display of specialized tools also instilled a sense of confidence, highlighting the thoughtful design of this stress-relieving space at Salu Ears.

Salu Ears has four ear-cleaning specialists, and you'll need to book an appointment in advance if you want to experience their ear cleaning or ear candling services. Don't assume that because the venue is in Shalu, further from the city center, you can just walk in. This Shalu ear-cleaning venue is often fully booked up to a month and a half out as soon as appointments open! The ear-cleaning specialists say that in addition to local residents, many more customers than they expected come from out of town.

UNN experienced the "Ear & Eye Clarity SPA Treatment, with added ear candling." This 80-minute session goes beyond ear cleaning to include an ear bath, outer ear care, ear acupressure, silver bead eye wash, eye acupressure, warm compress to stimulate circulation, and a head massage — a truly satisfying, all-in-one experience for your eyes, ears, and head. Salu Ears offers great value and a wide range of services, with the flexibility to add individual items or even book a single service if that's all you need.

### ✦Customer Experience Focus

Before the session began, the ear care specialist and Unn had an initial consultation, followed by an endoscopic examination of the ear canal. The chosen services were then tailored to Unn's physical condition and needs. It's natural to feel a little apprehensive during ear cleaning since you can't see what's happening, but throughout the process, the specialist explained each step and what to expect, helping Unn relax and feel at ease. This thoughtful approach made Unn feel completely comfortable during the entire ear care treatment.

The ear cleaner explained that while ear cleaning is important, many customers return for the healing and comfort it provides. The ears are rich in nerve endings and require careful attention, which can lead to significant stress relief. The treatment goes beyond the ear canal; it's a deeply felt experience. From the initial communication that builds trust, to the aromatic journey followed by the gentle caress of a peacock feather across the face, ears, and neck, and the resonant, singing-bowl-like sounds of a tuning fork, Unn's tense nerves began to unwind. The ear cleaner's smooth rhythm and skilled technique further helped Unn let down her guard.

Eye washes are highly recommended for regular care, ideally once every two weeks. High eye pressure can also lead to high brain pressure, causing migraines.

Unn felt no discomfort during the eye wash; the cool, refreshing sensation was novel and very pleasant.
