Enter the building from the left-hand entrance on Guangfu South Road, where you'll see a fountain. After exchanging your ID with the security guard on the first floor, take the elevator to this East District spa studio on the 8th floor. ### ✦Venue Introduction Stepping into the studio, you're greeted by a display of crystal ornaments. To the left of the entrance, a sofa offers a comfortable waiting area. Adjacent to the sofa are two dedicated foot bath recliners. Further inside, there are two rooms: one is a massage area with two massage beds, and the other is a waxing room complete with its own restroom. After stepping into the studio, Yuna relaxed on the sofa, sipping the honey citron tea provided by the venue. "LaForet" means "forest" in French, symbolizing purity. This Eastern District spa aims to offer guests an experience of natural purity in both its environment and products. For this reason, LaForet exclusively uses pure, natural Aesop essential oils with woody notes for massages, with the exception of treatments for pregnant clients. For her visit, Yuna chose LaForet's most popular relaxing and immersive experience: the Angel Shoulder, Neck, and Back Relief, along with the Goddess Rose Foot Bath Deep Care and Ice Hair Removal, perfect for getting ready for sandal season. LaForet offers a comprehensive range of services for women, from prenatal care through postpartum recovery. These include prenatal massages, postpartum lactation support, and specialized binding treatments for postpartum pelvic expansion. LaForet's binding service focuses on massaging the loosened rectus abdominis muscles after childbirth, helping to gently realign the core muscles. LaForet recommends combining this with exercise for faster abdominal firming. This meticulous care provides immense peace of mind for expectant and new mothers. Every detail of the five-sense experience is meticulously considered and arranged, from the moment you enter the studio for tea, to the interplay of light and shadow, the scent of woody essential oils, the white noise during the massage, the sound of singing bowls and the shell chimes that gently awaken you, and even the physical sensations and hot compresses. ### ✦Angel Shoulder, Neck, and Back Relief Before the Angel Shoulder, Neck, and Back Relief session begins, Yuna changes into the beauty wear provided by LaForet, then enters the massage room and lies face down on the mat. The therapist starts with a singing bowl, initiating relaxation through sound to begin this five-sense SPA experience. After the singing bowl session, the therapist applies oil and begins the massage, starting with 30 minutes of manual techniques, followed by 30 minutes of gua sha with a lymphatic drainage tool. Next, a cylindrical hot compress filled with adzuki beans is rolled over the back. To conclude, the therapist gently awakens you with the natural, soft sound of a fruit shell rattle, and then wipes away any excess oil with a warm towel. Yuna is extremely sensitive to pain and dreads the intense pressure of traditional acupressure massages that target fascia, as well as the deep tissue techniques that can leave her sore or even bruised the next day. LaForet, however, emphasizes relaxation and a lighter touch that gently works the fascia. The natural white noise, the warm wood tones and lighting, the pure Aesop essential oils, the singing bowl before the massage, and the gentle awakening afterward — these ASMR-like immersive touches allowed Yuna to completely relax and rest her mind, body, and spirit. She even drifted off to sleep during the massage, making this absolutely the most relaxing essential oil massage experience Yuna has ever had in Taipei. ### ✦Goddess Rose Deep Foot Bath Treatment LaForet's Goddess Rose Foot Bath Deep Care treatment is performed on a dedicated foot bath sofa, and guests wearing skirts or tight pants are offered a pair of looser trousers to change into. Once seated, both feet are first immersed in a warm, bubbling foot bath infused with sea salt and rose petals. This is followed by individual nail trimming, filing, machine removal of calluses, and exfoliation of the nail surface. After your toenails are trimmed, you'll soak your feet in a warm, bubbly sea salt and rose petal foot bath, followed by a callus removal treatment. Next, your feet and calves will be exfoliated and a mask applied up to your knees. After the mask, a compression massager will be used to gently press your legs, boosting circulation. The experience concludes with a thorough rinse and a protective nail oil application. Yuna, who often wears sandals, frequently experiences dry skin on her soles. However, after LaForet's Goddess Rose Foot Bath Deep Care, her entire lower legs became smooth and bright. This East District SPA's foot bath not only includes a soak and nail care, but they also meticulously remove hard skin from both sides of the nails. LaForet's comfortable and relaxing experience is the most effective foot bath Yuna has ever had in Taipei. ### ✦Ice Hair Removal LaForet's ice-cool hair removal takes place in a dedicated treatment room, where you can prep your hair in the private restroom. Yuna used to dread the burning and pain of laser hair removal, but LaForet's ice-cool method uses a shallower laser optical instrument for a pain-free, skin-friendly experience. Yuna felt an icy coolness the moment the laser touched her skin; the process was simple, quick, and completely free of heat or pain. Because pubic hair follicles are typically coarser, LaForet recommends starting with hot wax hair removal, followed by ice-cooling hair removal. Hot waxing physically removes hair from the root, which helps hair become finer more quickly, and the ice-cooling treatment is more effective when done after waxing.
