LOST Taiwan: A "Mystery of the Lost" Escape Room"Otherworld Express" Review (Spoiler-Free) — A Family-Friendly Magic Entrance Exam
Twosevenths recently experienced LOST Taiwan's "Otherworld Express" escape room in Taipei, and we're sharing our firsthand impressions of the set design, interactive mechanisms, and overall game experience. "Otherworld Express" is a fantasy adventure that combines technological interaction with immersive scenery, challenging children to observe, explore, and collaborate to complete a series of tasks. It's an ideal indoor activity for families looking for something fun to do together.

Otherworld Train Experience Review

This was Avocado's first time tackling a Taipei Escape Room with her nephew, and she was a little nervous beforehand, worried the kids might not adapt to an unfamiliar, enclosed space. But the moment they arrived, the situation completely reversed: the kids not only didn't shy away, they got into the game faster than the adults and played with even more enthusiasm.
Because their reading skills were still developing, the children initially had limited understanding of text clues. However, with adult guidance, they quickly found their "special missions." The adults focused on logic and puzzles, while the kids took charge of observing mechanisms, searching corners, and uncovering hidden clues. This unexpectedly created a perfectly synchronized parent-child division of labor. What began as a simple escape room experience transformed into a memorable adventure filled with laughter and mutual support, making that afternoon at LOST Taiwan truly unforgettable.
✦The colorful, magical space design instantly puts children at ease.
Before we set out, Avocado and the parents had prepared the kids, especially my nephew, for the experience, hoping to ease any fear of unfamiliar, enclosed spaces. But the moment we stepped into LOST Taiwan, the kids' eyes lit up with curiosity and excitement at the sparkling lights and mysterious black walls. When the staff began the one-on-one briefing, only Avocado and the other adults were left listening intently; the kids had already vanished into some corner of the venue to play.

As the children explore the space, it's clear the interior is deliberately designed to be colorful and magical, with every corner sparking their curiosity. This natural exploration helps them become familiar with the space, build initial impressions of the environment, and reduce any fear or discomfort they might feel in an unfamiliar setting.

✦The "Otherworld Express" features intricate puzzle designs that naturally make children the stars of the mystery.
In the past, Avocado has played many different Taipei Escape Rooms, and almost all of them required adults to climb and search for clues. Children, limited by their height, couldn't always see the clues and instructions placed high up. So, during this "Otherworld Train" experience, to accommodate the height difference between children and adults, many intricate mechanisms were hidden in corners and along the floor, discoverable only by children. This design really helped boost their engagement throughout the puzzle-solving journey.

Often, adults get so caught up in solving specific puzzles that they overlook how much their children are participating. However, thanks to the inherent nature of these challenges, adults can effortlessly involve children in the puzzle-solving process.

✦Board the otherworldly train, where every puzzle is part of an immersive adventure.
The "Otherworld Train" experience excites both kids and adults with its diverse technological mechanisms. It's not just about cracking combination locks, finding keys, and opening doors to the next scene; it requires combining visual, auditory, and sometimes even tactile senses, immersing your entire body in the puzzle-solving process.

We were amazed by the special effects and technological ingenuity in "The Otherworld Train." The unique mechanisms made the children even more engaged, transforming this Taipei Escape Room from a simple puzzle into a fully immersive, sensory-stimulating, brain-teasing experience.

One cute little touch was the array of wizard props set up in the venue. At first, we thought they were puzzle-solving tools, but it turned out they were for dress-up! As soon as the kids realized they could freely change outfits, they immediately dropped the puzzles, rushed to put on hats, robes, and scarves, and clamored for photos. So, in addition to solving puzzles, we also captured some amusing group shots.

✦After completing your adventure on the Otherworld Express, you'll receive an exclusive commemorative certificate.
For children, the most exciting part isn't just successfully clearing a stage, but receiving their personalized certificate of completion after the challenge. From observation, attempts, and failures to rethinking strategies, each level is an accumulation of learning and growth.
LOST Junior integrates STEAM logic education into the game experience, allowing children to develop problem-solving skills without even realizing it. The completion certificate then becomes a highly ritualized memento of their efforts. More than a standardized report card, it's like an adventure medal, reminding children that they bravely faced challenges, thought deeply, and completed tasks through their own strength.

Otherworld Train Game Features

When many people think of Taipei Escape Rooms, they often picture brain-teasing puzzles, dimly lit spaces, or even jump-scare chase scenes. But LOST Taiwan, a Hong Kong-based brand with 18 global locations, has chosen a completely different path.
LOST Taiwan not only combines interactive technology with cinematic storytelling, but also creates immersive puzzle-solving experiences for families through its LOST Junior series. From space designs that accommodate children's heights and intuitive interactive mechanisms, to game content that integrates STEAM education concepts, these venues transform the activity from mere entertainment into an adventurous journey where adults and children can explore, collaborate, and grow together.
✦Puzzle design for all ages: family-friendly fun for adults and kids alike
For many parents, the biggest concern about bringing children to a Taipei Escape Room is that the kids won't understand the puzzles, keep up with the pace, and end up just waiting on the sidelines. LOST Taiwan's design philosophy is precisely the opposite: they want every family member to be a vital part of the team.

With a wealth of intuitive tech-driven mechanisms and interactive devices, children can discover clues and trigger mechanisms through observation and their natural instinct for exploration, even if their reading skills aren't fully developed. Adults, meanwhile, handle the logical analysis and strategic planning. This division of labor transforms the parent-child dynamic from one of teaching and being taught into a true partnership, where everyone works together as teammates.

Many crucial clues are even intentionally placed at a child's eye level, allowing kids to be the first to discover them. This helps children build confidence as they successfully solve puzzles, and it gives parents a chance to see their child's often-overlooked observational skills and creativity.

✦LOST Junior transforms STEAM education into a tangible, hands-on learning experience.
Beyond entertainment, one of LOST Taiwan's most distinctive features is the LOST Junior series, designed specifically for children. Unlike traditional classroom learning from books, LOST Junior transforms STEAM education concepts—science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics—into interactive game mechanisms.

Children have the opportunity to engage with optical principles, spatial puzzles, mechanical structures, and logical reasoning during the puzzle-solving process, all without the pressure of traditional learning. Crucially, the game allows children to complete challenges through continuous trial and error, finding new directions even when they fail, thanks to the feedback from the mechanisms.

This approach replaces lectures with experiences and rote memorization with exploration, allowing learning to naturally integrate into the game. It also adds a layer of shared growth and mutual understanding to the parent-child experience.

✦The fantasy train setting and immersive storyline encourage kids to actively dive into adventure.
If you've ever struggled to find weekend activities that are both energizing and enriching for your kids, offering more than just physical exertion but also brainpower, interaction, and growth, then LOST Junior might be your new go-to!
Through story-rich scene design, intuitive and fun interactive mechanisms, and puzzle challenges that integrate STEAM concepts, children can develop observation skills, logical thinking, and teamwork while playing. It's also a chance for families to create unforgettable adventure memories together.

Unlike the dark, often eerie impression of traditional escape rooms, "Otherworld Express" immerses you in a magical fantasy world from the moment you step inside. The vibrant colors, twinkling lights, and realistic set design immediately capture children's attention, easing any apprehension about being in an unfamiliar space.
Many of the game's mechanisms and clues are cleverly integrated into the environment, making children feel like the protagonists of a story, discovering surprises as they explore. For kids, this isn't just a puzzle game; it's a fantastical adventure they get to be a part of.

✦Team up with your kids to complete missions and create memories more precious than winning the game.
At LOST Junior, parents aren't just sideline coaches; they're teammates, fighting alongside their children. During the game, adults analyze information and guide the overall direction, while children use their keen observation skills to uncover hidden clues and activate special mechanisms, complementing each other to complete the challenges.
This collaborative model gives children more opportunities for active thinking and expression, and allows parents to see their children's abilities and potential from different perspectives. When solving puzzles becomes a shared problem-solving process rather than just finding answers, education and companionship naturally unfold at every stage.

This was Avocado's first time experiencing a Taipei Escape Room as a parent-child duo, and "Otherworld Express" immediately drew the child into its colorful magical world, easing any apprehension about the unfamiliar space. The game's design thoughtfully balanced the abilities of both adults and children: adults handled the logical deductions, while the child focused on observing mechanisms and hands-on operations, creating a natural division of labor. The child was fully engaged throughout, even proactively discovering clues and advancing the puzzle-solving. The overall experience transcended a simple puzzle game; it was an immersive adventure of shared exploration and cooperation, leaving the child eager for another challenge.
