I experienced the 50-minute foot massage package. After being seated, you change into new clothes, and then the entire process is completed in the same seat, so there's no need to move mid-treatment. This is a big plus for anyone who wants to relax without interruption.

The foot bath is a highlight at Shanchuanxu Foot Massage Center. You can choose from three traditional Chinese medicine herbal soaks:

• Invigorate muscles and bones

I chose the dampness-reducing herbal formula this time. The traditional Chinese medicine scent was subtle, not overpowering. The foot bath reached about halfway up my calves, and the temperature was perfectly comfortable, never too hot. While soaking my feet, I also received a 10-minute shoulder and neck massage, a nice warm-up before the main foot massage.

When the actual foot massage begins, the therapist starts a timer. The next 40 minutes focus on the soles of the feet and calves. The pressure is "noticeable" but not so intense as to cause tension or painful grimacing. Acupressure points are distinctly targeted, and the calf muscles are thoroughly relaxed.

During the session, the therapist will place your foot on their thigh for a rolling massage, a natural transition within the rhythm. The overall technique is precise, with a continuous, consistent pace. Afterward, the feeling of lightness in both feet is remarkable, and your steps will feel noticeably lighter when you walk.

After your massage, you'll receive a pineapple cake as a small snack. While it should ideally be served with tea, tea wasn't offered proactively this time.

Additionally, the hot eye mask was not explained in advance, which is an area where communication could be improved. However, the overall process was clear and the experience was consistent.
