Yoseikan Budo養正館武道
養正館武道 About the Venue
IntroductionYoseikan Budo Taiwan is a comprehensive martial arts venue located near Mingde MRT Station. Upon entering, you'll find a home-like space with no dedicated reception counter; the classroom is in the basement.
The venue has only one classroom. In addition to the practice mats and mirrors, the classroom is equipped with weapons, dumbbells, kettlebells, and other fitness training gear, and it includes changing rooms and showers.
Currently, Yoseikan Budo offers classes only three evenings a week. Unlike other Taipei Judo venues, each class is a solid two hours, but you can leave early if needed by simply informing the coach. Following tradition, you must bow when entering and exiting the classroom to show respect for martial arts.

Daan Judo Hall大安柔道館
大安柔道館 About the Venue
IntroductionDaan Judo Hall, originally located within Xinyi Junior High School, has temporarily moved its training venue to Liuhe Budo Hall in Zhongxiao Xinsheng due to the pandemic.
The judo hall is situated on the second basement floor of a residential apartment building. The venue is brightly lit, and all equipment, including punching bags, is neatly arranged. It features two restrooms for changing and simple lockers for storage.
The classroom is divided into an academic martial arts teaching area and the padded mat area used for classes. The clean mats, paired with large L-shaped mirrors, allow students to clearly observe their own movements during class.
Classes primarily focus on Taipei Judo instruction and grappling. Students can choose to specialize in judo, grappling, or take both. If opting for the judo instruction course, students can order a gi directly from the coach.

中山柔道館 About the Venue
IntroductionZhongshan Judo Hall is a judo classroom located within the Datong High School campus, serving as a joint Taipei Judo training venue in partnership with the Taipei Judo Promotion Association and Datong High School.
After entering the campus, it takes about a two-minute walk to reach the classroom. Since there are no signs directing you to the classroom within the campus, you can ask the security guard at the main entrance for the exact location.
Outside the classroom, there is a water dispenser. Inside, the venue is divided into a reception sofa area, an advanced training area, and a beginner area. There is no dedicated changing room; if you need to change, you can use the small room with lockers.
The class schedule includes sessions for children, adults, and courses for both those with and without judo gis. Each class typically lasts about two hours. Before class, students are led through a warm-up together in the advanced area, and after warming up, they are divided into different practice areas based on their skill level.

Final Thoughts
This concludes our Taipei Judo recommendations, compiled by Twosevenths mystery shoppers who personally experienced and reviewed three venues teaching judo techniques.
If you're a complete beginner and unsure which judo venue is right for you, we recommend starting with a trial class. Getting on the mat yourself is the best way to understand each venue's teaching style and confirm if it's a good fit. Finally, remember that judo classes require a gi (uniform). If you don't own one, inquire with the venue about trial classes that don't require a gi, or ask if they offer rental services.
