I've been to many different dive centers both in Taiwan and abroad, but Xinhai Diving Center's dedication to teaching truly stands out. The instructors pay close attention to every student's reactions during the course, constantly monitoring your current state and movements, which makes you feel safe even underwater.
Before each class, Xinhai Diving Center prepares a small quiz to gauge how well students have absorbed the course material. This time, one of our group members hadn't dived in a while, and Xinhai Diving Center proactively suggested he review, which significantly enhanced the overall sense of safety for the activity.
Instructors also provide customized practice advice for each individual's situation, especially for students who experience water entering their masks or have some fear of the ocean. They offer psychological cues or small physical adjustments to help you gradually relax, rather than just toughing it out.
During the diving, we saw many unique fish, and the underwater scenery was quite beautiful, so we didn't miss the chance to enjoy the ocean while learning new skills. After the course, there's no need to worry about hunger; the meals provided by Xinhai Diving Center allow you to replenish your energy immediately.
The instructor helped record videos and take photos throughout the entire dive, and afterwards, we received a large collection of exquisite photos, preserving all those underwater memories. My trip to Chienchuan Dive Resort was primarily for Open Water (OW) diving certification. Before leaving, I noticed they were offering a "Digital Nomad Program." As a remote worker, I decided to take the opportunity to try it out. After communicating my needs via LINE and upgrading to a double suite, the intensive certification schedule became more relaxed and comfortable, significantly boosting my focus and quality of work.
Chienchuan Dive Resort is located on the main road in Nanwan. Upon arrival, the entrance gate was backlit by the sun, making it hard to discern its appearance. But stepping inside, I immediately understood why it calls itself a "resort center"—the two-story, high-ceilinged lobby is incredibly spacious, creating a surprising sense of discovery. Since I was getting certified on a weekday, I didn't encounter any other students. I even curiously asked the instructor, "Do you still run classes with just one person?" He smiled easily and replied, "If the timing works, we do!" So, the entire three-day, two-night course was one-on-one. Far from cutting corners because it was just me, I could feel his passion and dedication to diving throughout the learning process. It was impossible to tell this had been his profession for over a decade; his enthusiasm was still palpable.
In the past, I had tried "experience diving" in Green Island and Okinawa, but both times, due to limited time, I didn't have enough time to adapt to ear equalization, leaving a slight shadow over my perception of diving.
