Heyhey Dive's Taichung studio is located near Divecube Hotel, a popular indoor diving spot. Stepping inside Heyhey Dive, you're greeted by a large glass picture window, wooden decking, and a lush green plant, immediately setting a chill vibe. The high-ceilinged, bright space features a plush sofa and several beanbag chairs, while fins and masks adorn the walls, immersing you in the Taipei Freediving atmosphere.

Learning Taipei Freediving at Heyhey Dive in Taichung begins with the theory portion in a very relaxed setting, accompanied by soothing music. The instructor, Xiao Hei, told UNN that because relaxation is the core of Taipei Freediving, he wanted to create a teaching environment that would help students feel the same way. The practical sessions for these courses are split across three days, taking place at the Beitun Sports Center and Divecube.

Heyhey Dive's flagship venue is on Xiaoliuqiu, less than a ten-minute scooter ride from Baisha Port. The white container venue, with a path of pebbles and greenery alongside, has a distinctly island resort vibe.

The standout feature of Heyhey Dive's flagship venue in Xiaoliuqiu is its long, narrow swimming pool, perfect for students who want to experience the joy of diving in Xiaoliuqiu. It's an excellent environment for students to safely push their limits, whether practicing static apnea or dynamic apnea.

At night, Heyhey Dive transforms into Heyhey Lounge Bar, the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the island's relaxed vibe after a day of learning to dive or freediving in Xiaoliuqiu.

The Taipei Freediving practical course spans three days, covering both confined and open water sessions. Confined water training takes place at Qian Gang Swimming Pool in Shilin, while open water sessions are held seasonally at Longdong or Taichung's Divecube.

UNN found the Heyhey Dive course to be a joyful experience, filled with laughter. The instructors were incredibly patient and attentive to each student, guiding them without resorting to rigid, by-the-book teaching methods.

This is something UNN really appreciates, as it brings us back to the core of Taipei Freediving: relaxation. After all, freediving is about moving freely in the deep blue sea with minimal gear. Learning these skills in a high-pressure environment, rather than with full physical and mental readiness, isn't a good start, even if you do get certified.

From May to September, open-water sessions are held at Longdong Bay, covering static apnea, dynamic apnea, rope diving, equalization, duck diving, deep diving to 16 meters, and underwater rescue.

Heyhey Dive offers a particularly beautiful dive site for lessons, featuring a small underwater sandy beach surrounded by reefs teeming with fish. Instructor Xiao Hei shared that he spent a year in Longdong to discover this spot, aiming to provide students with a stunning marine ecosystem and extra motivation for their dives. Heyhey Dive also partners with Of Course, a stunning and comfortable café in Longdong, providing students with an ideal environment for their lessons.

After a dive in Longdong on a hot summer day, it’s wonderful to have such a comfortable place to relax, shower, and dine (at your own expense). Otherwise, after baking in the summer sun, you'd be hard-pressed to find a spot to cool off and rest during lunchtime.

Due to Taipei's weather and ocean conditions from October to April, the final day of Taipei Freediving practice was moved to the Deep Water Pool at Divecube in Taichung.

Divecube is a well-known and extremely popular spot in the freediving community, offering comfortable water temperatures suitable for both winter and summer. Reaching a depth of 21 meters, it's perfect for completing advanced depth courses. Best of all, its stunning, light-filled window views not only enhance the freediving experience but also provide incredible photo opportunities!

Speaking of Heyhey Dive, there's one more thing that absolutely must be mentioned: after the final lesson, the instructors always capture beautiful videos for each student, whether at Longdong or Divecube. This ensures every student takes home a spectacular keepsake. Since UNN usually dives alone, having professional photos is a rare treat, and the promise of beautiful pictures included with freediving lessons at Heyhey Dive is a huge draw for UNN!

Founder Xiaohei says he wants everyone to see the world's beauty, not just himself, which is why he loves organizing group trips abroad for Taipei Freediving. Once, he even posted online asking if anyone wanted to join him for a diving trip to the Philippines. To his surprise, people actually signed up! He simply told them which flight to take and that he'd meet them at a certain port, and just like that, a spontaneous diving adventure was born.

However, not everyone is so spontaneous, and some might even have reservations. So, they began to think about systemizing these trips to ensure everyone could enjoy themselves more securely, and their families would feel more at ease.

Heyhey Dive started planning systematic dive trips, handling everything from transportation and accommodation to dive site and activity planning. And get this: they even include a professional photographer! That's super important, right? Even if you're traveling solo, you don't have to worry—you're guaranteed to get some amazing photos to show off.

These trips are also a great opportunity to meet future travel companions. Xiao Hei charmingly told UNN, "I always keep the group size manageable, ensuring everyone has a fantastic time."
